That she is the widow of Henry Sortore who was a private in the militia of the State of New Jersey residing at the time of the Revolution in Somersette County near the line of Hunterdon County State of New Jersey, some five or six miles from Princeton; that her late husband the aforesaid Henry Sortore was a soldier in the army of the war of the Revolution and that he served as a soldier before and after his marriage; that he entered the war of the revolution, that is entered the Service as a soldier as early as Seventeen hundred and Seventy Six, and that he continued in the Service of the revolution till the close of the said war of the Revolution as a Soldier, only being at home in visits and occasionally a few weeks at a time. That he served under Capt. Dure or Duree; Capt. Polhamus, Capt. Bayard, Capt. Wheeler and other Captains, Col. Van Dike, Col. Freelingheisen, Genl. Hurd, Genl. Freelingheisen, and that in this way and under the above named officers and other officers, the said Henry Sortore served as a soldier at least six months in each year, viz., in the years 1776, 1777, 1778, 1779, 1780, & 1781, that he served as was then the rule or custom, or regulation, by monthly course, alternately, but that he was frequently on his return home before having remained at home more than a day or two called upon to go back into the service again which he always obeyed and thus immediately returned into the Service and performed the duty of a faithful soldier, thus it went on from year to year making his service more than six months in each year as before enumerated, that residing as the said Henry Sortore did at that time in Somersette County near the line of Hunterdon Co. New Jersey, in the very seat of disturbance and heart of the war of the Revolution he was as willingly as from necessity obliged to be in actual service more than half the whole time during the said war. She further declares that she was married to the said Henry Sortore in October seventeen hundred and eighty by the Rev. John Black in Hopewell, Hunterdon County New Jersey, near the line of Somersette County. He enlisted and served six months each year from 1776 to 1781 or 1783 for a total of more than three years. He was a private under the command of Captains Duryea, Polhemus, Bayard, Weeler and others, as well as Colonels Van Dyke and Frelinghuysen. He was at the battle of White Plains, crossed the Delaware, and was with Washington at Valley Forge. He appeared on the census of 1793 at Somerset Co, New Jersey, Western Precinct. He resided in 1800 at Ovid, Seneca Co, New York. On on 24 January 1800 Henry Sortore of Montgomery Township, skillman, purchased a lot from John Stout; witnessed by Jonathon Brook, John Tillyer and Hendrick Van Zand. On on 24 February 1800 Henry Sortore of the Western Precinct of the County of Somerset and Eastern Division of the State of New Jeresy and Charity his wife, sold a lot of land to John Clikaner and his wife Mable; witnessed by Safety Stout and John Brinson. On on 12 January 1801 Henry Sortore of Montgomery Township, Somerset County, New Jersey, farmer, and Charity, his wife, sold a lot of land to Jacob Young, son of Jacob Young of Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

Zebulon Sortore immigrated after 10 March 1845 to Lee Co, Iowa. On on 30 January 1847 in at Lee Co, Iowa, Zebulon Sortore and Nancy of Scio, Allegany County, New York bought land. He and Nancy A. Hoglan appeared on the census of circa 1850 at Monte Rose, Lee Co, Iowa, 1850 Census; Monte Rose, Lee, Iowa, page 402; family 231. Zebulon Sortore immigrated circa 1851 to Clarke Co, Missouri. He resided in March 1856 at Alexandria, Clark Co, Missouri. He and Nancy A. Hoglan appeared on the census of circa 1860 at Clark Co, Missouri. Zebulon Sortore left a will on 22 February 1861 all 8 children were listed in the will.
